Third Symposium on Computational Linguistics and Arabic Content (iArabic’2014) Enjoys Worldwide Participation

The Sina Institute for Knowledge Engineering and Arabic Technologies at Birzeit University organized the Third Palestinian Symposium on Computational Linguistics and Arabic Content on April 12,, 2014. Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Safa’ Nasser Eldin opened the symposium, alongside researchers from various Palestinian universities, institutes and companies, to discuss the latest research and projects in Arabic language technologies.

Vice President of Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman emphasized the importance of supporting scientific research and focusing on problem-solving in the Palestinian and Arab context, calling upon researchers to improve and intensify cooperation and communication.

Participating researchers were from diverse academic backgrounds, including computer science, linguistics, philosophy and statistics. The symposium was live-streamed over the internet, with contributions from the Gaza Strip, Egypt and the United States, via video conferencing.
