Textbook Lending Service Aids Students for Sixth Year

The Birzeit University Student Affairs Deanship via the Voluntary Work Program is offering used textbook lending for the sixth consecutive year to allow students to offset educational costs.
Under the project, a team of student volunteers collects used textbooks from students and classifies them according to subject to be lent to their colleagues. The project aims to promote social solidarity, the spirit of volunteerism and moral responsibility among students.
Dean of Student Affairs Mohammad Al-Ahmad said that this project is especially important for university students because it contributes to social networking and nourishes their sense of responsibility towards each other.
Al-Ahmad pointed out that this project is mainly to help needy students who cannot afford to buy new textbooks, and is part of the Dean of Student Affairs’s efforts to reduce the economic burden on needy students.
Voluntary Work Program Coordinator Ghada Al-Omari said that the project aims to increase its number of student beneficiaries and to implement an electronic used textbook lending system in the future.
