Students Learn of UK Higher Education Scholarships

On December 3, 2013, Birzeit University hosted an orientation day organized by the British Cultural Council on studying in the UK during the scholastic year 2014-2015 under the Higher Education Scholarships for Palestine (HESPAL) scheme.

HESPAL Coordinator Mirna Kassis explained that these grants are intended for research and teaching assistants who are interested in obtaining a master's degree from a British university.

To apply for these grants:

  • Applicants must complete a HESPAL application form in collaboration with their university, indicating which subject area(s) they wish to study.
  • Each applicant should submit an online application direct to the university they wish to apply to and attach it to the HESPAL application.
  • Applications are subject to HESPAL eligibility criteria.

Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Wael Hashlamoun said that four of Birzeit University students have already benefited from HESPAL. "The university considers this program an essential component within the university’s other components of developing the teaching staff," he said.
