Student Affairs Sponsors Lecture on Drug Abuse and HIV-AIDS

As part of a series of educational awareness activities, the counseling office at Birzeit University Student Affairs Deanship, in cooperation with the Good Friend Association, held a lecture on December 4, 2013 entitled: "The phenomenon of drug abuse among youth and its relationship to HIV-AIDS.”

Association awareness officer Afaf Ramadan presented statistical data on drug addicts and psychological and social aspects of their lives. Ramadan also talked about the types of drugs available in Palestine, which have spread among young people.

Association doctor Riyad Abbas spoke about the relationship between drugs and AIDS, defining the virus and its symptoms, mechanisms of diagnosis and treatment.

Dean of Student Affairs Mohammad Al-Ahmad said that these awareness lectures aim to inform and educate students about the risks and dangers of drugs and AIDS.

To conclude, the association screened a short film that addresses the impact of drugs and AIDS on young Palestinians.
