Spring Semester commences at Birzeit University

The Spring Semester of the 2017/2018 academic year has commenced at Birzeit University, with over 300 new students enrolling in the university’s various bachelor’s and master’s academic programs, spread across eight different faculties. With the new enrollees, the total number of students at Birzeit University now totals over 13,000.

President of the University Dr. Abdullatif Abuhijleh congratulated the university’s community, wishing students, faculty members, and staff an exceptional semester full of academic excellence. He said, “Birzeit University is always striving to keep abreast of modern developments in all fields and to provide students with all the skills and knowledge they need to enter the job market.”

“To that end, we’ve recently launched the Leadership and Active Citizenship Program -  “Masari” - an interactive learning experience, designed and developed by the university, aimed at first-year students of all majors. The learning journey comprises six learning stations spread over three years: Personal Competencies, Career Path, Debate, Citizenship, and two Social Entrepreneurship stations.”

“The university,” added Dr. Abuhijleh, “was able to claim advanced places in the global university rankings of the Arab world and maintained its top rank among its national peers in these rankings.”

Dr. Abuhijleh also expressed how proud Birzeit University is to host the Palestine Techno Park on 20 dunams of the university’s land.  The park serves to bolster economic cooperation between local and international firms, provide facilities and a suitable creative space for partner businesses – as well as innovation and research and development centers –  to incentivize entrepreneurship, and build technological capacities.
