SAP Next-Gen Chapter University in Design Thinking at Birzeit University

SAP University Alliances a global program enabling more than 3,500 educational institutions in over 113 countries to integrate the latest SAP technologies into teaching., announced the opening of a new SAP Next-Gen university chapter in design thinking at Birzeit University in Palestine. The new chapter was announced at the 23rd SAP Academic Conference EMEA, held at the Competence Center Technical University of Munich (TUM) on September 10-14, 2018.

Birzeit University was among the first 61 universities to host SAP Next-Gen chapters worldwide. The new chapter will expand and drive innovation opportunities for students to learn about the latest innovations and market skills. This is intended to help students accelerate the establishment of intelligent enterprises.

Assistant Professor of Innovative Marketing at Birzeit University Dr. Samah Abu Assab received the certificate to start the SAP Next-Gen university chapter in design thinking at Birzeit University, and will serve as its representative.

In this sense, Birzeit University will operate as a lighthouse to support other Palestinian educational institutions in implementing the SAP Next-Gen network in design thinking, a cognitive process from which design concepts emerge to be used in business and social contexts.

“Key deliverables for the university chapter and expected opening of SAP Next-Gen Lab include sharing best practices by connecting industry partners with academic thought leaders, researchers, and students to reimagine the future of industries, seed in disruptive innovation, and build skills for digital futures,” said Dr. Abu Assab.

“Of course, the partnership with SAP Next-Gen Chapters is a very good opportunity to build a local network in Palestine and to connect with the regional EMEA network, and with the worldwide network and universities,” commented Abu Assab. “We look forward to this opportunity to take the chance and be an interactive partner of a worldwide academic network and to disseminate the culture of innovation with purposes aligned with the 17 UN Global Goals.”

Birzeit University will collaborate with the University Competence Centre located at Otto von Guericke Universität Magdeburg and Technische Universität München to support others with upgrading skills on design thinking.
