Qatari Committee offers scholarships to Jerusalemite students studying at Birzeit University

The Permanent Qatari Committee to Support Jerusalem vowed to support Jerusalemite students studying at Birzeit University by donating 60 thousand Jordanian Dinars as scholarships and financial aid.

Birzeit University President Abdullatif Abuhijleh and the secretary of the committee Bilal Natsheh signed an agreement on July 19, 2018 aiming to provide equitable opportunities for students from Jerusalem to pursue their higher education in spite of the hurdles imposed by the Israeli Occupation.

President Abuhijleh reaffirmed the university’s commitment to provide inclusive and equitable quality education for all, especially Jerusalemite students who face many challenges that can hamper their academic progress. “We believe that well-educated individuals are the cornerstone to flourish our societies and foster our national identities in places like Jerusalem which is under great violations and abuses for their fundamental rights.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of Students Affairs Mohammad Al Ahmad, the Director of the Office of Grants and Contracts Amir Khalil, and the Acting Director of the Advancement Department Nadine Sinokrot.
