Professor Visits from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University to Discuss Cooperation

On June 4, 2014, Birzeit University president Khalil Hindi met with Professor Zaher Joudeh from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, and discussed possibilities for academic cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Vice-President for Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman, Faculty of Graduate Studies Dean Talal Shahwan, Department of Chemistry Chair Hijazi Abu Ali and International Academic Relations Officer Dolly Kaibni.

Joudeh gave an overview of  NTU, saying that it is home to several world-class research institutes and has built on its strength and reputation in interdisciplinary research. NTU has about 36,000 students in the colleges of engineering, science, business, education, humanities, arts and social sciences.

Joudeh commended Birzeit’s academic standards, and expressed his wish to develop joint cooperation between the two universities and further improve the quality of education.

Joudeh also met with students and briefed them on the requirements for a biochemical engineering specialization, and how to submit grant applications to NTU.
