Professor, students tackle the higher technology developments

Dr. Abdel Salam Sayyad from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Eng. Salah Hussein, a student in the Master Program in Software Engineering, participated in the New Trends in Information Technology conference (NTIT 2017) that convened in 25-27/4/2017 at the University of Jordan in Amman.

Eng. Salah Hussein presented his paper entitled: “End-to-End Performance Monitoring Approach,” which described a novel approach that he designed and implemented to modify the way complex hardware and software systems are monitored in the context of wireless communications carriers.

Dr. Abdel Salam Sayyad presented a paper entitled: “Intelligent Data Extraction using Regular Expressions,” which he co-authored with former students ‘Ala Hashesh, Othman Al-Khamra, and Ahmad Salameh. The paper describes work performed within a graduation project to compose regular expressions for data extraction with the help of genetic programming.

Dr. Abdel Salam also organized a tutorial at the conference entitled: “Software Engineering Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.” The tutorial focused on ways to change attitudes towards the adoption and education of that code of ethics, especially through the discussion of real-life cases.
