Physics Student participates in scientific training program in Geneva

The student and teaching assistant in the Physics Department at Birzeit University Maha Zoud, participated in a Summer Training program at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) near Geneva, Switzerland.

The two-month training provided the opportunity for student to learn the physics of high energy and create scientific collaborations.

In the first six weeks, the students took extensive classes in different fields of physics such as particle physics, high-energy physics and accelerators physics, in addition to several topic in electronics.

Each student is required to do a research project under the supervision of an expert at CERN. Zoud project was a part of the CMS experiment. Her project aims to measure the high voltage and gas pressure in one of the detectors.
