Participation in Workshop at Technical University of Berlin

Birzeit University, represented by Dr. Afif Hasan, Faculty
of Engineering Dean, and Dr. Ahmed Abu Hanieh, Mechanical Engineering faculty
member, participated
in a workshop entitled: “German-Palestinian Cooperation for Sustainable Development." The workshop was held from 5 to 6 July
2012 at the Technical University
of Berlin with support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The delegation from Palestinian
universities was comprised of An-Najah National University
in Nablus and the Islamic University
in Gaza, as well as BZU.

During the workshop, the participating parties agreed to conduct
joint projects in solar energy, production engineering and robots.
These projects aim to establish a solar
energy lab and production engineering lab at BZU and the
Islamic University. They further agreed
to develop courses in production
and sustainable energy to be
taught at the Technical University of Berlin and participating Palestinian universities.
