Opening of the International Voluntary Work Camp 2013

The Birzeit University Deanship of Student Affairs opened on June 24, 2013 the international voluntary work camp. The opening ceremony was attended by Dean of Student Affairs. Mohammad Al-Ahmad, Vice President for Financial Affairs Bishara Dabbah and the Voluntary Work Coordinator Ms. Ghada Al Omari. In this year’s camp, fifty volunteers from different countries of the world and Palestine are participating. In her speech, Omari emphasized the importance of volunteer spirit in the Palestinian community service, as the participation of international volunteers in this camp adds a special effect to volunteer work in Palestine, In his welcome address, Al- Ahmad pointed out that this camp delivers an important message in terms of having participants from abroad to see in their sheer eyes the realities on the ground. Dabbah said that the organization of this camp will help to enrich the students' personality by getting involved in volunteer work for the purpose of serving our home country and humanity. The duration of this year’s camp is two weeks (24/6-4/7/2013), in which students from the United States, Britain, Turkey, Brazil, United Arab Emirates and Germany are participating. The participants will visit Palestinian towns and villages to learn about the Palestinian heritage, meet with Palestinian figures and attend lectures.
