OPEC Fund for International Development To Upgrade Campus Test Labs

The OPEC Fund for International Development has agreed to fund the upgrading of test laboratories at Birzeit University.

The agreement in the amount of $500,000 was signed recently by President Abdul Latif Abu Hijleh and OPEC Fund director General Suleiman Al-Harbish.

The agreement holds great importance for the university due to fast-paced development in scientific research. The overuse of the existing equipment makes their replacement an urgent need. The project aims to enhance the laboratories’ testing capabilities and improve the quality of research and services needed to meet international standards.

President Abu Hijleh expressed his sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the OPEC Fund for International Development. He explained that the project will help empowering research and education in the university. “Birzeit University aims to maintain the important role it plays in serving Palestinian society through its laboratories and enhancing its capabilities in protecting the Palestinian consumer, as well as developing scientific research.”

The head of the center, Bilal Amous, said that the project “contributes to achieving the center’s vision of becoming an axis of knowledge and a leading reference in scientific research, both nationally and regionally”
