Nurses Graduate in Special Ceremony

A time-honored tradition at Birzeit University continued on January 12, 2017 when 28 nursing graduates offered the “nightingale pledge” in a ceremony organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions.

The students' families, mentors and colleagues, hosted by Vice President for Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman and dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions Munir Qazzaz beamed with pride as the students took the pledge, marking their graduation.

Giacaman said that this ceremony signifies the students' official initiation into the family of nurses. "Our graduates are highly qualified to meet the labor market's urgent needs," he said.

"This ceremony is rich with symbolism and is in line with the university's mission and goal, which is to provide our students with advanced levels of education and opportunities for volunteering in the community, gaining practical experience, and conducting research."

Qazzaz reported that this is the fifth class of nursing graduates, saying the school is committed to continuing “this noble mission." He emphasized the students' dedication and hard work, and expressed his belief in them as change agents for the future.

"We really do have confidence in your ability. We see that you've already aspired higher by choosing this noble career."
