New cooperation to support first Palestinian Olive Leaf Extract Company

Birzeit University and Palolea Company agreed on June 14, 2017 to develop new pharmaceutical and nutritional products, and conduct researches to advance new products manufacturing especially from Olive Leaf Extract. 

The University President Abdullatif Abuhijleh and the CEO of the Company Haitham Kayyali signed the agreement in the presence of the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions Rania Abu Hamdah, the Director of Samih Darwazah Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries Hani Shtaya, and the Director of the External Academic Relations Amir Khalil.

Abuhijleh expressed his enthusiasm about this new partnership; especially that Palolea is the first of its kind in Palestine and the Middle East to use natural resources wisely and scientifically for human's benefit. The president pointed out that Samih Darwazah Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries is the perfect hub to support Palolea's mission.

“Samih Darwazeh for Pharmaceutical industries strives to contribute to the development of the local pharmaceutical industry and to become the local and regional reference for high-quality pharmaceutical industry and research”, Abuhijleh said

Kayyali said that Palolea produces the finest olive leaf extract. "It is the first Palestinian manufacturer that produces its own active ingredients after a high-level of research. We now offer two lines extract from Olive leaf and we seek for more."

The idea of the factory according to Kayyali stemmed from the symbolic value of the olive tree, it's health benefits and economic importance to Palestinians. The CEO said that the company is exploring new lines to develop through actual manufacturing and researches.  "This agreement will contribute in the success of our journey".
