Mexican representative to organize cultural day on campus

The representative of Mexico to Palestine Dr. Pedro Blanco Pérez visited Birzeit University on May 27, 2019, and met with the university president Abdullatif Abuhijleh, the vice president for academic affairs Henry Jaqaman, and the officer of external academic relations Amir Khalil.

Pérez said that he is interested in organizing a cultural day that introduces Birzeit University students to Mexican values, culture, identity and traditions.

Abuhijleh stressed that the university encourages all activities that celebrate and recognize rich cultural traditions, especially those from the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries in Europe and Latin America.

Expressing his enthusiasm about Birzeit University’s Spanish language courses, Pérez said that he would like to donate Spanish books to enable students to gain a closer insight into Spanish language and literature.

Khalil said that the university is keen to develop academic networks and explore exchange and joint research opportunities with universities in South America. It is vital, according to Khail, to go beyond Europe and open frontiers with different nations and countries around the world.
