Media Graduate Saed Karzoun Nominated for 2014 Hult Prize

Birzeit University media department graduate Saed Karzoun was nominated for the 2014 Hult Prize, sponsored by the Hult Prize Foundation, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to launching the world's next wave of social entrepreneurs. Annual Hult Prize winners can make their ideas a reality with the help of $1 million in seed funding.

Karzoun’s project "You Know" was selected along with 250 other projects to be presented before an arbitration committee. The project focuses on the right of the citizen, particularly the Palestinian journalist, to access information and knowledge, since Palestine’s basic law guarantees that right. Karzoun described his project as an application downloaded on cellular devices that facilitates communication between the citizen and decision-maker.

The Hult Prize is a start-up accelerator for social entrepreneurship, which brings together the brightest college and university students from around the globe to solve the world’s most pressing issues. The annual initiative is the world’s largest student competition and crowd-sourcing platform for social good. The Hult Prize has been funded by the Hult family since its inception in 2009.
