Media Development Center Graduates Classes from Five Special Courses

On March 1, 2014, the Birzeit University Media Development Center celebrated the graduation of students from five specialized training sessions. Vice President for Community Outreach Samia Halileh, center director Nibal Thawabteh, and Media Department chair Bassam Owaidah were in attendance.

Owaidah told the audience that the department’s vision focuses on practice over theory and thanked the media center for its contributions to the five training courses, held during 2013 in the areas of photography and the use of multimedia, reporter field work, occupational safety while covering armed conflicts, advanced skills in dialogue management and interviewing, media grammar and language, and presentation skills.

The Media Development Center announced a new course schedule that includes television reporting, press release production, radio reporting, written media in English, and press reporting.

Director Thawabteh spoke of the center’s vision of improving the efficiency of Palestinian media staff and students through specialized training and training manuals, in partnership with international media organizations and with media professionalism, objectivity, independence and freedom, and in compliance with Palestinian and international laws.
