Media Development Center to Discuss Draft Right to Access Information Law

On February 26, 2014, the Birzeit University Media Development Center organized a brainstorming workshop to discuss the draft right to access information law.

Opening the event, the center director Nibal Thawabteh stated to the center’s commitment to developing a national media strategy, alongside 40 local partners.  Thawabteh also affirmed that the workshop is part of the center's work on studying, amending and ratifying media laws as part of the national media strategy, according to the agreement signed with the government and all other partners.

The workshop was attended by head of the Anti-Corruption Commission Rafiq Natsheh and head of the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms Musa Rimawi, in addition to a large number of lawyers and journalists.

At the end of the workshop, Thawabteh announced that the center will hold a similar session for its colleagues in the Gaza Strip, to gather together all comments and amendments to be included in the memorandum that will be sent to the Anti-Corruption Commission and the cabinet’s Legislation Committee.
