Lecture introduces Palestinian Alimony Fund, right to alimony

The Psychological and Social Counselling Department in the Deanship of Student Affairs at Birzeit University, in cooperation with the Palestinian Alimony Fund, organized a public lecture, entitled “Partners for the Right to Alimony,” on March 19, 2018.

Ro’a Yousef, Palestinian Alimony Fund project coordinator, said that the fund held 38 workshops to raise awareness of the services that it offers to those who don’t receive alimony.

Palestinian Alimony Fund Counsel Nisreen Edris presented a brief outline of the fund’s mechanisms and services, noting that it aims to “promote alimony rights by paying alimony for those who didn’t receive it, such as women, the elderly, and the unemployed, in addition to pursuing those who don’t carry out alimony orders through the proper legal channels.”

The Palestinian Alimony Fund was established in 2005, with an independent budget, and directly reports to the prime minister.
