Lecture explores approaches to the study of cultural hybridization

Birzeit University’s Faculty of Business and Economics and the Department of Media held a joint lecture on cultural hybridization in the digital arena on October 23, 2019. The event featured Sulafa Zaidani, a PhD candidate at the University of Southern California, who presented a critical perspective on the issue.

Amal Nazzal, assistant professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics, presented Zaidani and said that her intervention includes a content analysis of the blogosphere in China under the state’s surveillance system and the associated restrictions on the freedom of expression. Nazzal added that Zaidani will discuss the role of social media and explain how they triggered imagination and creativity following the Arab spring.

This lecture was the last event in a series that focused on exploring internet content in the Arab world.
