Law students complete course on international humanitarian law

Twenty-seven law students at Birzeit University wrapped up an international humanitarian law course, held by Birzeit University and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), on October 7, 2019.

The two-day course, organized by the Department of Law and the Faculty of Law and Public Administration, included topics such as the relationship between international humanitarian law and international human rights law, the classification of armed conflict, persons and places protected under international humanitarian law, and the role of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The students were trained by Ashraf Da’aibes and Bilal Shareef from the ICRC and Ashraf Siam, a professor of law at Birzeit University.

At the end of the course, Abderrahman Ibrahim, dean of Birzeit University’s Faculty of Law and Public Administration; Suha Musleh, head of the ICRC office in Ramallah; and Hala Shoaibi, chair of the Department of Law, presented participants with certificates of attendance.
