Kamal Shamshoum’s Book Launch Ceremony

On 1 October 2012, BZU launched a book that reviews the history of physical education in BZU, titled: "45 years...Kamal Shamshoum and his life long career at Birzeit University College."

This book covers all aspects of sports at BZU, formerly Birzeit College, along with Kamal Shamshoum’s long memories with thousands of his students.
The BZU President Dr. Khalil Hindi attended the ceremony, applauding Shamshoum’s efforts during his teaching career at BZU, saying: "Kamal Shamshoum has dedicated more than 45 years in service of BZU students and community. We at BZU are proud of having a committed generation of ex- staff and faculty members.
Shamshoum said: "The idea behind the book began when I received a letter of retirement, which urged me to document my 45 years of experience.”
He thanked the Vision & Visual Company for printing the book, saying: "The Company insisted on not selling the book, preferring free distribution for those interested in sports and cultural affairs."

Mr. Shamshoum graduated from BZU with a Physical Education high diploma in 1965. He was then in charge of the BZU Physical Education Program. In 1980, he earned a scholarship to study at New Hampshire University, US, where he earned his master’s degree in 1981. Shamshoum returned back home to work as head of the Physical Education Department at BZU, and then was promoted to a teacher assistant post in 1990/1991. He continued his work at BZU until he reached the retirement age in 2007/2008, but his service was renewed for additional five years, based on BZU’s need for a qualified person like Shamshoum.
