Johnny Stiban explores mitochondria functions in Serbian conference
Johnny Stiban, an associate professor at Birzeit University’s Department of Biology and Biochemistry, delivered a lecture at the 14th Conference on Mitochondrial Physiology, held in Belgrade, Serbia, between October 13 and 16, 2019.
Speaking at the invitation of MitoEAGLE, Stiban presented his research on mitochondria, focusing on changes both during their life cycle and in non-communicable diseases.
Stiban is a member of MitoEAGLE, a network that aims to improve our knowledge of mitochondria, their function in health and disease, and the role they play in evolution, aging, gender, lifestyle and the environment.
Stiban recently served as editor of a new book on the roles of bioactive ceramides, a publication that compiles and summarizes the results of thirty years of research on sphingolipid biochemistry.
