Islamic Bank to Develop University Physics Labs

Birzeit University President Khalil Hindi and Palestine Islamic Bank Board Chairman Mohammed Zakarneh signed on April 10, 2013 a memorandum of understanding to develop the university’s academic infrastructure, specifically the Physics Department laboratories at the Faculty of Science.
The agreement also set out bank facilities for financing students at the university, in addition to the provision of banking services to the university community.
Hindi expressed his happiness with the agreement, saying that the laboratories are a priority in applied science and research and will develop the university’s academic programs.
Zakarneh emphasized the bank’s interest in supporting Palestinian universities and higher education, saying he hoped for additional cooperation between the bank and its investors to further their responsibilities towards the community and higher education in Palestine.
Vice President for Advancement Ghassan Khatib emphasized the importance of encouraging a culture where higher education is seen as the social responsibility of all parties in the community so that all social classes to access the right to education.
President Hindi also offered a summary of projects that the university seeks to develop with external support, the first of which is to build a dormitory for female students.
