Irish Academics, Officials Visit Birzeit University

A high-ranking Irish delegation visited Birzeit University on November 12, 2013. The delegation consisted of experts in various fields from the University of Dublin, Senator Dr. Marie-Louise, and parliamentarian Maureen O'Sullivan. The aim of the visit was to explore the educational realities on the ground and to learn about the academic programs.
The delegation was received by Vice President for Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman and Vice President for Advancement Ghassan Khatib.
VP Khatib briefed the delegation on the university’s faculties and specializations, as well as its adopted role in promoting community service. Khatib stressed the university’s interest in developing relations with various universities around the world.
VP Giacaman briefed the delegation on the university’s academic status and future plans, calling for strengthening future academic relations with the academic sector in Ireland.
The Irish delegation expressed great admiration of the academic progress that has been reached, despite the prevailing political and economic circumstances in Palestine.
