ICPH conducts training on Midwifery - News

The Institute of Community and Public Health at BZU conducted
on 21-23 June 2011, a specialized targeted training for the 2nd set
of Registered Midwives working in the UNRWA health sector.

The training aimed at strengthening and supporting the
midwifery model of care as primary health care providers for antenatal family
planning and postnatal services for the Palestinian refugee population.

The training was conducted by the academic researcher Sahar
Hassan from the Women’s Health Unit over 3 consecutive days using interactive
training approaches i.e. simulations, group discussions, games, brain storming
and focused lecture sessions . The training included topics related to
antenatal care of the normal and high risk pregnancy, common gynecological  problems and postnatal care in clinic and home
settings.

The participants in this training were 24 registered
midwives from various districts; Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem
and Hebron.

The Women’s Health Unit team will follow up on this training
during the months of July and August 2011, through field visits for
participants in the UNRWA clinics in various districts.
