Hunter’s Moon observed at Michel and Hakim Sanieh Observatory

October’s full moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon, put on a show across Palestine on October 10, 2022, and especially from the rooftop of Birzeit University’s Faculty of Education.

The university community monitored the full moon at the Michel and Sanieh Hakim Observatory while celebrating World Space Week, organized by the Department of Physics.

Through the top-notch telescopes of the observatory, Birzeit’s community tracked the Hunter’s Moon, Jupiter and Saturn.

The Hunter's Moon is the name for the full moon of October. This is the month to start preparing for the coming winter. Historically, the moon signaled to farmers that it was time to prepare for the chilly winter ahead, as the full moon’s light provided easy visibility for hunting the animals that would sustain them through the cold months.
