Graduate wins international award for best documentary

Birzeit University media graduate Elia Ghorbiah wins the Emerging Film Director Award at Al Ard Doc Film Festival for her short documentary "The Bitter Ink".

The film focuses on Palestinian prisoners inside the Israeli detention, who write books novels and poetry in Israeli prisons and the suffering of smuggling them to be printed and published outside prison. It highlights the role of the literature in resistance and in shaping the real identity of Palestinians, through showcasing real scenes inside the cells.

Al Ard Doc Film Festival is one of the most prestigious Arab film festivals in Italy. It aims to shine a light on Palestine and the Arab world's issues.
