Graduate Studies Workshop Engages Academic Integrity

On November 23, 2013, the Birzeit University Faculty of Graduate Studies organized a workshop on academic integrity. The workshop was intended to increase awareness of academic integrity among the faculty’s students and those interested.
In Vice President for Academic Affairs and acting president Henry Giacaman stressed the importance of the topic, calling for compliance with academic integrity instructions.
Faculty Dean Talal Shahwan told the workshop, "Since the information revolution and its easy accessibility over the past two decades, the absence of academic integrity has actually seen a modest increase in educational institutions around the world. This requires extra effort to spread awareness of academic integrity and its positive meanings.”
The workshop included presentations by a number of faculty members through which many topics were discussed: ethics of scientific research, core values of education and practices of different types of plagiarism.
