French Cultural Attaché Visits Birzeit University

The French Consulate’s Cultural Attaché in Jerusalem Augustin Favereau accompanied by the Educational Cooperation Attaché Marie-Claude Messager visited Birzeit University on October 7, 2013. They met with University President Khalil Hindi, External Academic Relations Officer Dolly Kaibni, and Chairperson of the French Language Department Basma Al-Omari. The parties discussed ways to strengthen cultural cooperation between the university and the French Consulate.
President Hindi gave a briefing on Birzeit University faculties and academic programs. He explained the university’s role in promoting community service and emphasized the university’s interest in developing relations with various universities around the world.
Hindi underscored the French language program as a gateway for students to learn about and communicate with other peoples, especially the French.
Kaibni spoke about academic conditions and future plans, highlighting the ongoing cooperation between the university and its French counterparts. Kaibni called for strengthening future academic relations with the academic sector in France.
Attaché Favereau expressed a great desire to strengthen interaction and cooperation between the consulate and university in service of education in Palestine, especially through the Translation Master’s Program project (French/ English/ Arabic). Attaché Favereau asked for the university’s assistance in holding the youth conference in Palestine sponsored by the French Research Center and in establishing a French school in Ramallah.
