The Finance & Banking Dept. at the Faculty of Commerce and Economics – BZU holds a lecture on “Green Banking”

On 6 April 2011, the Finance & Banking Dept. at the Faculty of Commerce and Economics - BZU held a lecture on "Green Banking," delivered by a staff from the Bank of Palestine. The coordinator of this lecture, Mrs. Lama Musleh, welcomed the guests and introduced the speakers.

Green banking as a term covers several different areas, but in general refers to how environmentally friendly your bank is, and to what extent committed to green and ethical policies. Green banks are simply banks with a social conscious.

The Speakers noted that there is a great  concern from banks and other financial institutions to move towards green banking and to give more weight to environmental factors, aiming at providing good environmental and social business practice, checking all the factors before lending a loan, whether the project is environmentally friendly and impacts the future. Consequently, the client will be provided with a loan, only when she/he follows all the environmental safety standards.
