Faculty Member First Palestinian to Earn CIPSAS for Public Sector Accountants

Morabo Shammas, a professor in Birzeit University’s Business and Economics Faculty, has become the first Palestinian certified in International Public Sector Accounting Standards, or CIPSAS.  

The CIPSAS certificate is offered by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, the only professional accountancy body exclusively dedicated to public finance in the world. CIPSAS qualifications is the benchmark professional qualification for public sector accountants and includes preparation for preparing general purpose financial statements by governments and public sector entities.

The CIPSAS certification is only the latest addition to Shammas’ portfolio, which includes the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certifications. Shammas is also recognized internationally as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Reliability Professional (CRP) and a Certified Business Manager (CBM).
