Faculty expertise, research output excel in CWUR ranking

Birzeit University ranks the first Palestinian and 41st Arab university according to the most recent list from the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) for 2019–2020. The university ranks 1896 out of 25,000 universities worldwide.

Since 2012, CWUR has been publishing the only academic ranking of global universities, using indicators to assess the quality of education and faculty and research performance without relying on surveys or university data submissions.

CWUR’s most recent list included 49 Arab universities from 12 different countries, among them Palestine, represented by Birzeit University, the only Palestinian university surveyed and included in the ranking.

The ranking measures four main indicators: quality of education, alumni employment, qualifications of faculty, and research output and performance―derived from the total number of publications, publications in top-tier journals, publications in highly influential journals, and publications that are highly cited.

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) is a leading consulting organization that provides policy advice, strategic insights, and consulting services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes.
