Faculty of Engineering and Technology Holds Specialized Workshop on Monitoring and Control in Modern Power Systems in Collaboration with University of Palermo, Italy
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Birzeit University organized a workshop titled “Wide-area Monitoring and Control in Modern Power Systems” in collaboration with the University of Palermo, Italy. The workshop, held from April 7 to 17, 2025, included 24 training hours divided into eight sessions.
It covered various vital subjects in the simulation of monitoring and control systems for smart electric grids. Also, it featured in-depth studies, real-life applications, and hands-on exercises to strengthen participants' practical understanding of such advanced systems.
Dr. Rossano Musca led the workshop, which was attended by a group of the department’s students, faculty members, and alumni.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Jasser Saad, the workshop coordinator, emphasized that this workshop is part of the ongoing academic and research collaboration between Birzeit University and the University of Palermo, which has already resulted in several notable joint research projects. He further noted that this was the second workshop of its kind held within the framework of this fruitful partnership.
