Entrepreneurship Training Prepares Businesses for ‘Green’ Operations

Birzeit University’s Center of Continuing Education (CCE) concluded on April 2, 2016 a training program on the application of green business concept by green entrepreneurs in Palestine.Offered by researcher Baher Dkedik, a specialist in Private Sector Development in CCE and Business Administration Department Faculty Member Maisa Burbar, twenty-six entrepreneurs, students and non-students, participated in the training which was held in collaboration of SwitchMed Program.Participants acquired the skills required to transfer their knowledge and the tools needed to transform their innovate idea into a green business, which is economically viable and will have a positive impact at ecological and social level.The project’s manager George Yoruos  believes that this workshop series will be a step towards more sustainability in the business setting for navigating today’s global economy and solving our climate woes. Yoruos added that this workshop is dedicated to the practical development of the green entrepreneurial ideas proposed by the green entrepreneurs who are taking part in the training.  He assured that at the end of this workshop participants were able toBirzeit University’s Center of Continuing Education concluded on April 2, 2016 a training program on the application of green business concepts by green entrepreneurs in Palestine.Offered by researcher Baher Dkedik, a specialist in private sector development in continuing education, and Business Administration Department faculty member Maisa Burbar, the training course included 26 entrepreneurs, students and non-students. It was conducted in cooperation with the SwitchMed Program.Participants acquired the tools needed to transform their innovative ideas into a green business that is economically viable and will have a positive impact ecologically and socially, as well as the skills needed to transfer this knowledge.Project manager George Yorus believes that this program, part of a series, will be a step towards more sustainability in navigating today’s global economy and solving our climate woes.Yorus added that the program is dedicated to the practical development of the green entrepreneurial ideas proposed by the entrepreneurs who took part in the training. He said that at the end of the training workshop, participants were able to develop a green business plan and thus steer the creation of green enterprise projects.The participants will present 16 green projects in an international competition on green entrepreneurship, he said.Center of Continuing Education unit supervisor Olga Albattran said that this program is part of the university’s broader vision of promoting a sustainable society through its academic, education, research and training programs and in the operation of its campuses and facilities and it’s interactions with the community.A series of training workshops on green entrepreneurship was recently organized across the West Bank by the Birzeit University Center of Continuing Education.
