Engineering Faculty Holds Workshop on Student Graduation Projects

On 31 January
2012, the Faculty of Engineering at BZU held a workshop on student graduation projects.  The
workshop aspired to achieve the objectives of the graduation projects by
consolidating the positive interaction between the universities and the labor
market.

In his opening address, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Adnan Yahya, stressed the importance of coordination with the industrial sector in paving
the way for graduation projects to meet
market needs and at the same time demonstrate the skills acquired by graduates.
He underscored the special relationship between academia and industry, especially in the engineering field. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Afif Hasan, noted that this workshop aligned with the concerted efforts of the Faculty of
Engineering to strengthen its relationship with the labor market.

During the first part of
the workshop, BZU, An-Najah University, Palestine
Polytechnic University, Al-Quds University
and Palestine Technical University presented their experiences
in graduation projects and coordination mechanisms with the
private sector in terms of follow-up
and evaluation.  In the second part of
the workshop, the participating companies
presented their experiences, as well as comments
on required qualifications
and skills students need to
complete their graduation
projects.

The workshop ended with a discussion of the
presentations, followed by recommendations from
the academic and professional sectors. In addition to the workshop, an
exhibition of engineering students’
graduation projects at Palestinian universities was held.
