Dr. Sahar Hassan participates in the 5th Adolescent Health Conference in the Middle East and North Africa Region in Egypt

As part of the activities of the NORAD Networking Project with Arab and international researchers, exchange of experiences, participation of research results and projects of students of the Master programme of Women's Health, the member of the academic body in the Nursing Department, the Master programme of Women's Health and the director of the NORAD Dr. Sahar Hassan, besides Dr. Bert Mortenson, Director of the NORAD Project at the Norwegian University of Oslomet, and graduate of the Women's Health Master Programme Sabrin Obaidullah at the Fifth Conference on Adolescent Health in the Middle East and North Africa, held under the auspices of the League of Arab States in Alexandria, Egypt, from 30 September to 2 October 2024. 

Dr. Sahar made an oral presentation on research titled:
Menstrual health and hygiene among Palestinian university students in the West Bank: a comprehensive study of the sectors, by the authors: Sahar Hassan, Rula Ghandoor, Lamia Bakri, Siham Shwiki, Sara Safi, Reem Abu Zeid, Hiba Zeidan

While Dr. Bert Mortinson of the University of Oslomet gave an oral presentation of research in which Dr. Sahar participated in, it was titled: Promoting Midwives' Cultural Sensitivity to Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare through Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL): Study of Mixed Methods Assessment, by the authors: Beret Mortensen, Sahar Hassan, Caroline Denam Badzi, Lena Henriksen, Gwendolyn Mensah, Hadil Masri, Anne Karen Valle, Mohamed Khalil

The conference was attended by a group of Arab researchers and scholars who are engaged in research on young people's health in the Arab world, from the Middle East, North Africa and other countries. The papers submitted form the basis for research on young people's health in the Arab States under the Adolescent Health Coalition in the Middle East and North Africa region.

During the conference, bilateral meetings were held between Dr. Sahar and Dr. Bert Mortenson to discuss the content of the initial report of the midterm evaluation of the NORAD project, some plans and future research, as well as networking meetings with some researchers from Gaza currently residing in Egypt.

These participations reinforce Birzeit University's place in regional health scientific conferences, highlighting the role of the Women's Health Master's Programme in promoting the health of young people by contributing to research that highlights the challenges facing them and helps the planning of policies that aim to reduce these challenges and support the health and well-being of young people.
