Department of Geography discusses Ph.D., master’s research studies in fifth Urban Transformation workshop

The Department of Geography in the Faculty of Arts at Birzeit University, together with the University of Bergen, held the fifth Urban Transformation in the Southern Levant Project workshop, on November 17-19, 2018. 

The workshop, organized under the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development, featured Nils Anfinset, a professor of archaeology and cultural studies at the University of Bergen and project coordinator in Norway; Kamal Abdulfattah, a professor of geography at Birzeit University and project coordinator in Palestine; 
Ahmad Abu Hammad, a professor of geography at Birzeit University and project manager; 
Othman Sharkas, head of the Department of Geography; and a number of other faculty members. 

During the workshop, the attendees discussed the results of research studies and projects of seven Palestinian Ph.D. scholars in Norway, in addition to reviewing eight studies by Palestinian master’s students. 

The Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development aims to build the institutional capacity and performance of academic institutions and increase the quality and quantity of research conducted by academic researchers.
