Department of Business Administration and Marketing organizes workshop on inclusive entrepreneurship

To mark Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Department of Business Administration and Marketing organized a workshop on inclusive entrepreneurial education on November 19, 2022.

The workshop addressed the challenges that face Palestinian entrepreneurs using a framework titled “Inclusive Entrepreneurship Education and Training.” This framework centralizes equity, diversity and inclusion to identify intersectional biases that obstruct equality and economic security. The framework was developed by professors from the University of Ottawa in Canada and Babson College and Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

The workshop stressed the role of universities in promoting gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized communities in entrepreneurship through inclusive entrepreneurial education.

During the workshop, local entrepreneurs shared their experiences with the challenges that Palestinian businesses encounter. The entrepreneurs included Hanin Abu Ghoush, owner and operator of Darwish Café; Ameen Saeb, digital media expert; and Qusay Jaber, co-founder of Shankaboot.
