Delegation from Arizona State University Visits BZU

BZU President, Dr. Khalil Hindi, received a US delegation from Arizona State University (ASU) on
21 February 2012. The delegation comprised Dr.
Anshuman Razdan, Director of the Research Development, College of Technology
and Innovation; Dr. Stephen Feinson, Assistant Vice President for Knowledge
Enterprise Development; Dr. Mari
Koerner, Professor and Dean of the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College; Dr. James O'Brien, Vice
President and Chief of Staff; Josh Hoyt, President of the University Student
Government at the Polytechnic campus. From BZU, the meeting
was attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Adnan Yahya; Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Maher
Al-Hashweh; Director of the Institute of Environmental and Water Studies, Dr. Nidal Mahmoud; External
Academic Relations Officer, Dolly Kaibni; and Head of Student Council, Majdi Al-Hafi.

 

 

 

During the meeting, both parties discussed possibilities for exchange of
experiences between the two universities and partnership in scientific
research and other projects. They also discussed the possibility of providing grants to BZU students and staff to
enable them to pursue PhD programs.

Dr. Razdan indicated that the academic programs at the College of Technology prepare
students for their careers and train them for the labor market. Dr. Koerner overviewed the
Teacher’s College and its different programs, emphasizing the importance of the
interdisciplinary approach used in those programs.

In their briefing of the programs of
the Institute of Environmental and Water Studies and the Faculty of Education,
both Dr. Mahmoud and Dr. Al-Hashweh emphasized the needs and the priority areas
that ASU could respond to and could form the basis of joint collaboration
between the two institutions.

The meeting
concluded with an agreement that there will be follow up on issues raised and a
need to develop specific joint projects.
