Conference on “Nutrition-Related Chronic Diseases”

On 15-16 September 2012, the Institute of Community and Public Health (ICPH) at BZU participated in a conference on “Nutrition-Related Chronic Diseases,”attended by Palestinian and visiting experts. The conference was organized by the Juzoor Foundation for Health and Social Development at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in al-Bireh.
Referring to statistical data, the attendees stressed that chronic diseases in the Middle East region will soon reach 40%, which is a very dangerous indicator.They recommended that preventive measures be taken through programs that deal with major health and financial problems.
The participating ICPH staff included Dr. Nihad Makki, Dr. Niveen Abu Rumeileh, Rula Ghandour and Dr. Abdullatif Husseini, all of whom presented papers which addressed the impact of social, economic and health conditions on nutrition and chronic diseases in Palestine.
