Center for Continuing Education Graduates Sixth Class of Sports Management Program

The Center for Continuing Education at Birzeit University celebrated on September 27, 2016 the graduation of its sixth class and the start of training for the seventh class of its sports management program. The program is implemented in partnership with the Palestinian Football Federation and the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), a joint venture with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

The Sports Management Program targets members of sports unions, committees and employees who work in sports institutions. Enrolled participants learns the principles of management, communication skills, sports events coordination, financial management, and sports marketing and advertising.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President for Community Outreach Asem Khalil, representative of the Palestinian Football Association Claudie Salameh, Vincent Monnier representing the CIES and Course Coordinator Rania Qasim.

Khalil thanked all who made this course successful. He reassured the course's importance and its role in the development process of the Palestinian community.  " We are proud to be part of this international network. Together, we can contribute in bringing the sports sector in Palestine, which in turn, will have multiple positive impacts on the social and cultural arenas.

Monnier said that this course is a starting point in our students career. "Growing within the sports management profession requires mastery of all the essential skills that a job requires, which our program offers." "By the end of the course, participants will be able to contribute in to the development of sports in Palestine."

Speaking on the behalf of the Chairman of the Palestinian Football Association Jibreel Rajoub, Salameh pointed out that this program is a perfect opportunity for everyone who seeks to improve their skills in sports. She reaffirmed the value of the program in the partnership of prominent institutions such as FIFA, CIES and Birzeit University that will contribute to the development  of the sports sector in Palestine on the basis of knowledge and vocational training.

The program is now launched in 16 universities around the world including: Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Brazil, Trinidad,  Tobago, Spain, Poland, Russia, Egypt, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Senegal, Costa Rica, Peru and Palestine.
