BZU and Spanish representatives look into cooperation in Spanish teaching

The Director of the Cervantes Institute in Amman Antonio Gozalo, and the Head of the center's Studies Sandra Aguendez visited Birzeit University on January 28, 2017, and explored possible ways to encourage learning Spanish language at the university.

Gozalo and Aguendez met with the External Academic Relations Officer Dr. Amir Khalil, the Head of the Department of Languages and Translation Majdi Abu Zahra, and the university's Spanish language professors Miguel Garcia, and Veronica Larraz.

Both parties discussed the idea of holding the Spanish Language official test (DELE- Spanish as a Foreign Language) for eligible students at Birzeit University. The DELE is a certifying degree of competence and mastery of the Spanish language, granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain. Prospects of establishing a Spanish center in campus were also discussed.

The Cervantes Institute was created in Spain in 1991 to promote the Spanish language and cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. The center organizes the Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language, as well as issuing the official certificates and diplomas to the participants in the center's courses in Spanish language. The center also offers teacher's training courses and organizes cultural events in conjunction with our organizations.
