Birzeit University, University for the Creative Arts sign MoU

Birzeit University, represented by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Faisal Awadallah, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University for the Creative Arts, represented by Vice Chancellor Professor Bashir Makhoul on February 22, 2018.

The MoU aims to foster academic exchange, encourage cooperation between professors and research staff, and open channels of cooperation in creative arts.

Attending the signing were Vice President for Planning and Development at Birzeit University Dr. Mirvat Bulbul, Grants and Contracts Officer Dr. Amir Khalil, and Director of the Visual Art Program Dr. Tina Sherwell.

Dr. Awadallah highlighted the importance of the MoU for creative arts in Palestine, saying “This agreement will benefit students of Birzeit University and develop and support creative arts in Palestine. The agreement will broaden our students’ cultural outlooks by opening channels of academic communication and cooperation in visual arts.”

Professor Makhoul expressed the University for the Creative Arts’ willingness to offer scholarships for Birzeit University’s students and introduce them to the unique academic programs offered by the England-based university.

“Our aim,” said Professor Makhoul, “is to build a new creative arts industry, support arts education, and promote art at all levels. We are more than happy to provide training courses for students in fine arts, design, decorative art, animations, film and video, glass and ceramic works, and interior design. These courses and more are led by our specialized art experts.”
