Birzeit University Tops Palestinian Universities in 2025 UniRank

Birzeit University has ranked first among Palestinian universities in the latest 2025 UniRank edition, and has also secured the 12th spot among Arab universities.

This achievement comes as part of Birzeit University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence and impact through its online platforms. UniRank rankings assess universities based on their web presence, popularity, and influence, using a range of indicators and data from various sources. The ranking includes multiple lists of the top 200 universities, including global, regional, and continental rankings, as well as national standings.

It is worth noting that Birzeit University has earned high positions in several international rankings this year, which reflects the quality of its education and research. According to data from Scopus database, the university’s publications have continued to receive significant citations across various academic fields worldwide, with their volume and reach steadily increasing.

Birzeit University researchers also continue to stand out: eight of its faculty members were included in the 2024 Stanford-Elsevier list of the world’s top 2% most-cited researchers. Additionally, according to the latest 2025 ScholarGPS update, six researchers and academics from the university were ranked among the top 0.5% worldwide.

Moreover, Birzeit University was ranked first nationally among eight Palestinian universities in the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) for 2025, placing it in the first quartile (Q1) of universities and research institutions. It also secured the top spot among 27 Palestinian universities and higher education institutions in the 2025 edition of the EduRank classification.
