Birzeit University team wins first place in the Sixth National Wooden Bridge Tournament
Birzeit University's Legends To Be team of civil and architectural engineering students, consisting of: Nassim Hamed, Mehdi Daqqa, Ahmad Tawil, Roni Sabat, and Abdulaziz Kobri, won first place in the 6th National Wooden Bridge Championship, which was held at the Faculty of Engineering at An-Najah National University on Friday and Saturday, October 18-19, 2024, organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) with the participation of 24 teams from Palestinian universities.
The idea of the competition is that each student team designs an educational bridge with specific dimensions from wooden pieces that are equally distributed among the participants. The bridges are then subjected to real loads, and the bridge that withstands the most weight is the winning bridge. The bridges were also evaluated architecturally. The general evaluation committee consisted of several specialized teachers from the participating universities.
Birzeit University's winning team recorded an endurance of 177 kilograms, the highest number recorded in the competition's history.
