Birzeit University students win bronze at ACPC

A team of Birzeit University computer engineering students has recently won the bronze medal at the ACM Arab and African Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC) held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. The team included Suhaib Sawalha, Mohammad Milhem and Bassem Hijaz.

Following their victory, the team qualified to compete in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) to be held next year. Known as the Olympics of Programming Competitions, the ICPC is an annual programming contest aimed at talented undergraduate students to test their programming and teamwork skills.

The students qualified for the ACPC after competing with national universities and achieving first place in the 10th ACM Palestinian Collegiate Programming Contest, held on October 9 and 10, 2022.

Dr. Mohammed Hussein, faculty member at the Department of Computer Engineering, stated that the department holds regular programming contests to sharpen students’ programming skills and prepare them for local and international competitions.
