Birzeit University receives accreditation for two new graduate programs in private and public law

The National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Palestinian Higher Education and Scientific Research recently has given its approval to Birzeit University’s Faculty of Law and Public Administration for the implementation of two new graduate programs in private and public law. These programs have been developed to respond to a growing demand for experts specialized in these fields.

Mohammed Alqaisi, director of the graduate program in law, explained that this addition is further evidence to the Faculty of Law and Public Administration’s commitment to developing academic programs that serve the students’ interests and align with Birzeit University’s mission of achieving excellence in teaching and research.

Alqaisi added that the graduate program in public law aims to produce a cohort of specialized lawyers by offering in-depth courses in the areas of constitutional law, international law, administrative law, and criminal law. Likewise, the graduate program in private law aims to help students develop theoretical and practical knowledge in fields such as civil and commercial law. A distinguished group of professors will teach these valuable courses.

The two new programs target graduates with law degrees and judicial and legal practitioners, such as judges, lawyers, public prosecutors, and legal advisors in public and private institutions.

With the Faculty of Law and Public Administration admitting the first group of students in the new programs in the second semester of the current academic year (2019–2020), it offers four accredited graduate programs: public law, private law, law and economics, and government and local governance.
