Birzeit University organizes alumni charity event

Birzeit University’s Alumni Engagement Program organized a charity dinner for alumni on Monday, December 22, 2022. The dinner is part of a series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the transformation of Birzeit College into a university.

The event was attended by Birzeit University President Dr. Beshara Doumani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Hanna Nasir and more than 70 alumni.

In his speech, Dr. Doumani asserted that “Birzeit University’s Advancement Department established the alumni program to unlock the opportunity for alumni to maintain a lifelong relationship with their institution and colleagues. Without its first cohorts of students, Birzeit University would not have become one of the most prominent universities in the region. Birzeit University grew with its alumni by their efforts.”

He added, “Fifty years ago, Birzeit University offered a limited number of undergraduate programs for around 400 students. Now, Birzeit has over 14,000 students, nine faculties and more than 120 academic programs that lead to bachelor’s and master’s degrees, higher diplomas and PhDs.”

During the event, alumni reminisced about their time at Birzeit University and discussed ways to use their experience and professional networks to support it.
